Ignite Adaptive Sports Website Rebuild

Project

Ignite Adaptive Sports is the only adaptive snow sport program on Colorado’s eastern slope, providing winter sports opportunities to individuals with disabilities. Their programs allow athletes of all abilities to experience the freedom and community that comes with skiing and snowboarding.

Ignite approached me to redesign and rebuild their website to better support the needs of their community. The existing site suffered from slow performance, outdated plugins, and a confusing navigation structure that made it difficult for athletes and volunteers to understand the next steps required to participate in the program. Key actions such as creating an account or logging into the athlete portal were also difficult to find.

The new website needed to clearly communicate Ignite’s mission while creating intuitive pathways for their primary audiences: new athletes, new volunteers, returning participants, and donors. In addition, the Ignite team required a backend that was simple and flexible enough for staff to confidently manage and update content themselves.

Solution

I designed and developed a streamlined WordPress website focused on clarity, accessibility, and intuitive user journeys. The new structure prioritizes Ignite’s core audiences by creating clear entry points for athletes, volunteers, and supporters directly from the homepage, guiding visitors toward the actions they are most likely to take.

To support Ignite’s internal team, the site was built using flexible page components and an easy-to-manage WordPress setup, allowing staff to update content and manage program information without technical expertise. The final design highlights Ignite’s mission and impact while creating a welcoming and accessible experience for athletes, volunteers, and supporters alike.
